Prayer for Today

We come to you today to bring you our worship. We come to open our hearts and minds and lives to the light of your all embracing love.  Help us to open our whole lives to you and not just what we find easy or convenient.  Lead us in the Spirit, so that we may become more like you both in our worship and in our lives.

Introit

Draw near to God and He’ll draw near to you;

draw near to God and He’ll draw near to you.

Lift up holy hands to Him and sing of what He’s done;

open up your hearts to Him and praise Him for His Son.

Help with decorating the church on the 23rd September at 10 am would be much appreciated.  If you bring flowers/greenery all the better.  Many thanks

Afternoon Tea – Saturday 30th September. - After the success of the children’s activity day in August, we are planning more children’s work during the October half term (See below). We need to raise funds for this and to continued work with children in our church.  Saturday 30th September ‘Afternoon Teas’ will be served from 3 pm in the CAMEO room. Booking essential cost £5 per head with all profits going to help with this work. For more information contact Joan Jones or Penelope Harrison.

Choir Practice - Choir practice at 10am on Saturday's 30th September & 7th October.

Children's Activity Day. Following the success of the "Yellow Brick Road" day we are hoping to run a "Pumkin Superheroes" Day in October half term holiday (probably Thurs 26th or Friday 27th). The message is about light and love growing when it is shared. Before we can start serious planning we need to know that we have enough people to help on the day. If you would be willing to come along and help supervise a craft activity (nothing complicated!) or help with tea please have a word with Joan Jones or Penelope

Christmas Shoe boxes. We will again be packing Christmas shoeboxes this year. Most of them will go via the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion (which works with Trussell Trust) and takes boxes to some of the poorest people in SE Europe. Last year they delivered 11,724 to Bulgaria and Serbia. We will also send a few boxes to a local women's refuge. From next Sunday there will be a large box in the foyer to collect items for inclusion. e.g. Children's socks, pants/knickers, soap, toothpaste and brushes, shampoo, combs, flannels, small toys ( teddies, dolls, balls , small cars, jigsaws etc.) pens, pencils, crayons, note books, sweets, hair accessories, hats, scarves and gloves. Remember everything has to be of a size that will fit into a shoebox!
